Joana’s art is a visual reflection of the unseen, a bridge between the physical and spiritual realms. Each piece is infused with intuitive guidance and crafted to inspire introspection, connection, and clarity. Designed for personal reflection, rituals, or as tools for divination, her artworks serve as profound mirrors of the soul.

A Note from the Artist

“The process of scribing these glyphs is a completely intuitive process and I have found that I find my mind empties in the process and something else entirely takes hold.

In my work, I’m inspired by the ineffable, visionary experiences, the feminine divine, and ancestral wisdom; I’m propelled to create by the beauty and suffering involved in the human experience.

The light glyph art I create holds an energetic signature, of a quality of being that serves as a lighthouse to all those who wish to cultivate more presence inside of themselves.”

Voice of the Forest
Audio-Visual Installation · de Young Museum, On the Edge 2022

Voice of the Forest is an immersive audio-visual installation created for the De Young Museum’s On the Edge 2022 event. The piece was designed to give the impression that the forest itself is speaking. Visitors were invited into a contemplative experience of sound and image that centered stillness, listening, and relationship with the natural world.

The piece weaves layered vocalizations, ambient textures, and subtle visuals to create a sense of being enveloped by the living voice of the forest. Rather than placing nature in the background, the forest becomes the narrator; a guide that speaks in breath, tone, and resonance.

Blending elements of sound healing, voice work, and visual ritual, the installation offered museum guests a quiet threshold during a night of vibrant activity. It invited them to pause, listen deeply, and receive what the forest might have to say.
